Shopping

Jacksonville has an eclectic mix of shops, stores, restaurants and lodging in a variety of venues throughout the city and the Region.

Jacksonville continues to remain an important retail trade hub for many counties surrounding Morgan County. Love exploring quirky boutique shops with one-of-a-kind treasures? Or, prefer major shopping centers with everything from lawn ornaments to the latest fashions? Whatever you want, you’ll find it here.

Morton Avenue is the hub for retail/commercial activity in the Jacksonville Region. There are national chains, local, and specialty stores, and a wide variety of services. Along Morton Avenue, you will find a Wal-Mart Supercenter, Shopko, Maurice’s, Staples, Applebee’s, Home Depot, Dunham’s Sports, Farm and Home, Ace Hardware, Slumberland, Medicine Shop, Walgreens, CVS and more!

Lincoln Square Shopping Center, which is also on Morton Avenue, houses J.C. Penney, Goody’s, Sears, Kirlin’s Hallmark and other clothing and retail stores. And, from May to October, a vibrant farms market set up Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings, offering fresh produce, fruit and treats trucked in from surrounding farms and orchards. People can get everything they need and most of what they want on Morton Avenue.

Jacksonville’s downtown area and historic Central Park Plaza offer a range of shops and services, with unique gifts, crafts, and artwork, as well as a nice selection of restaurants. Jacksonville’s historic city center is in the midst of an exciting renaissance to restore historic traffic patterns, improve access, enhance park amenities, and landscaping, all making downtown even more appealing. As you might expect, the shops tend toward the special and the creative – a stained glass shop, art galleries, an engraving firm, a book store, specialty outlets, a variety of eating and drinking establishments – and our downtown offers its own farmers market during the warm weather. Come downtown for a unique mix of gift shops, a fair-trade store, a yogurt shop, restaurants, coffee houses, and specialty items. Stroll along the streets of historic downtown, and stop by any of the dozens of specialty shops for that one-of-a-kind treasure you can’t live without. A rare find of a book, a leather-bound classic, the hottest bestseller on the list today, or a gently used paperback – you’ll find your next great read right here. In addition, there are many find arts events throughout the year. You’ll also find shops offering amazing arts and crafts from local artists. Visit the gallery – then take a piece home.
